CAST
ME: A little about me. I’m a 30-something woman. 5’9”, and overweight. It’s something I struggle with constantly. I used to model, so I’m one of those “such a pretty face” girls. I moved back in with my parents July 2004, so I can save money to buy myself a condo. However, I lost my job in September 2004. After that, I realized I hated what I was doing, and decided to make a complete career switch. In December, I graduated with honours as a Professional Spa Therapist, and I'm so happy I decided to change my career. I work at an upscale hotel spa in downtown Toronto. I love books, shopping, certain TV shows, hanging with friends. I am single, and hope I will eventually find someone. But, in my mind, I’m pretty sure I’ll be alone forever. I want a dog. I live in Toronto where I've lived all my life, except for the 3 years I went away to university. I'll probably live here forever; I can't think of a better place to live.
Mom & Dad: Obviously. I believe they are the best parents in the world. They adopted me at birth, and make me feel really special. Very loving and giving people. Dad is retired now (he was a teacher, Mom stayed at home), so they’re finally taking it easy. They love to go to the races, casino & travel , and do lots of stuff with their friends.
James & Lee: my brother and sister-in-law. They got married in August 2002. My brother is cool (he’s a cop) although he didn’t become that way until university. Lee is great too, we’re the same age. I like hanging out with them a lot. And, they have the CUTEST PUG PUPPY ever. I love me some pug love (ok, get your mind out of the gutters!)!!
Nephew! James & Lee had a baby boy on July 27, 2004! Then, they had my Niece on November 28, 2006. Yeah, they ARE crazy to have two so close together!
Alex: My best friend since 7th grade. A lonnnng time ago. We grew up on the same street, so we’ve known each other forever. She’s smart (works in forensics), pretty and has the body we all envy. A super chick. She got married in Sept., 2004. They are now expecting their first child, after two miscarriages last year. I'm happy they're getting what they want and hope everything goes smoothly with this pregnancy.
Susan: another best friend. We met in the cast of the play Gre@se in our last year of high school, over 10 years ago. She’s awesome, funny, smart and outspoken. She got married in Feb. 2005, and I was a bridesmaid AGAIN. I love her lots.
Felicia: Also met her in the play. Amazing girl, she’s smart, pretty, and teaches us about etiquette and the “finer things in life” as she’s a bit of an etiquette snob (but she admits it, and we love her). Introduced me to our theatre subscription. She got married in January 2002; I was a bridesmaid.
Reiko: My awesome friend from university. She’s a smart one, too. Got her degree in Wildlife biology. She worked as a zoo keeper for the longest time, but now has worked at a mutual fund company for the last seven years. Wants to get back into animals. Super adventurous, just got back from Africa & went to Australia on some koala thing, too. Amazing person, we’ve been there for each other through some tough shit. Also loves playing cards, we’re rummoli buddies. And men love her, as I do, but in a different way!
Corrina: My other super awesome friend from university. Got married in September 2001, and has a baby (my first good friend to do so). We’ve been through a lot together. I can always count on her. She’s lots of fun, too. She lives in Barrie, so the three of us try to get together at least once a month. Usually play cards or some type of gambling. She is now expecting her second child, due this summer.
Jen: My other really good friend from university. She lives in Ottawa now with her husband, so we don't see her that often. But she came to Vegas with us last year. She's hilarious and lots of fun. She had her first child recently.
Genie: I've known here for a long time (she's mostly been known as "G" in previous entries). She was originally friends with Alex, but now we're all friends. She's a great girl but can be a little (LOT) anal at times. Asks a lot of questions about silly things. She's fun to hang with,though.
Andrea: Has been known as "A" in previous entries. She's a vet & is currently living in Minnesota working. She was originally Alex's good friend from university, but I've also known her since then because Alex & I went to the same university. Anyhow, Andrea is a super smart gal, and lots of fun. She's a shortie (4'11", I think!) but has a BIG personality. I miss her & always look forward to her visits home.
THE LOSER: My ex, I finally dumped his ass in October 2000. We were together for about 3.5 years and never slept together (um, big hint here, razor??) We talk occasionally still. He lied to me, used me, and “borrowed” (STOLE) about $26,000 from me. He also lied to me practically the whole time we were together (mostly about money; I would give him money for the bills, etc. and he would just spend it.), and treated me crappy. My friends all hated him then, but it's even worse now. I will have the occasional rant about him, but it gets me so mad at myself, I try to avoid that. UPATED ON MARCH 10: still a jerk, still owes me money.
I’ll add more important players as they arrive. Of course, there are satellite friends, but my fingers are getting tired!
